Colorado Artist Jack Roberts: Painting the West

Description

The West had many painters, but few lived it like Jack Roberts. In Colorado Artist Jack Roberts: Painting the West, F. Darrell Munsell traces the life of an artist who traded comfort for adventure, settling in western Colorado to paint the frontier world he loved — cowboys, ranchers, and the vast, luminous country they called home. A biography that follows Roberts from apprenticeship with illustrator Harvey Dunn through decades of change.

Illustrated with more than seventy full-color paintings, this biography follows Roberts from his apprenticeship with the celebrated illustrator Harvey Dunn through decades of change — in lifestyle, subject matter, and the West itself. A portrait of dedication: a man who believed beauty was worth chasing into the remotest corners of Colorado. Munsell shows an artist who sought inspiration in rugged landscapes and the people who worked them: cowboys, ranchers, and the vast, luminous country they called home.

Part art book, part life story — essential for lovers of Western art, American illustration, and the landscapes of the Rockies.
