Description
The unauthorized story of the show about nothing. Jerry Oppenheimer’s Seinfeld: The Making of an American Icon is an unauthorized biography of Jerry Seinfeld — the stand-up comedian who co-created one of the most beloved sitcoms in television history. Oppenheimer digs beneath the public image of the famously private funnyman to reveal the man behind the laughs.
The book traces Seinfeld’s rise from a struggling comic on the New York club circuit to superstardom: the breakthrough appearances on The Tonight Show, the creative partnership with Larry David, and the making of the “show about nothing” that ran for nine seasons and became a cultural phenomenon. Along the way, Oppenheimer examines the perfectionism, the fierce work ethic, and the controversies surrounding Seinfeld’s personal life.
Drawing on interviews with friends, colleagues, and industry insiders, this is a complex portrait of a comedy legend — an engaging behind-the-scenes look at the making of a comedy empire, and the driven, private man at its center. For television fans and pop culture readers alike.
