Description
By day, a banker in one of London’s glass towers. By night and weekend, a soldier. Among You is Jake Wood’s gripping memoir of a life lived in two worlds — and the price of serving on the front line. Wood spent fourteen years in the Territorial Army, deploying to Iraq and Afghanistan while building a career in international investment banking.
Disillusioned with the dullness of banking, he kept escaping back to the army — until the reality of modern combat caught up with him. In brutally honest, beautifully written prose, he brings home the harsh truth of front-line fighting: the adrenaline, the fear, the bonds between soldiers, and the trauma that follows you home.
The true story of a soldier now living among us — one whose war didn’t end when he came home. For readers of military memoir and anyone who wants to understand what service really costs.
