Runnin’ with the Devil by Noel Monk with Joe Layden

Description

The definitive backstage pass to Van Halen’s wildest years. Noel Monk managed Van Halen from 1978 to 1985 — the years four Pasadena kids became the biggest rock band on earth. In Runnin’ with the Devil, he tells it from the inside: the explosive rise, the legendary tours, the clashes, the creative fire of David Lee Roth, Eddie and Alex Van Halen, and Michael Anthony.

First published in 2017 and illustrated with rare photographs from Monk’s own vaults, this is the Roth-era band in full: the famous contract riders, the recording of 1984, the triumphs and the train wrecks — Monk was there for all of it, and he holds nothing back.

Wild, hilarious, and sometimes heartbreaking, this is manna from rock heaven, straight from the man who lived it. Essential reading for rock fans — the loudest memoir on the shelf. Turn it up.
